what would you have done? i walked into one of my patients room after knocking on the door and announcing myself and found my 40 year old patient mastribateing and he did not stop he continued and the real bad part about it is he didn't even cover it up. then my next patient was a woman 89 who kept saying it was time to play with her pussy and she would not remove her hand from her diaper. so what would you have done?

if your working in the medical field, you should know there's nothing you can do. They have there rights to having fun too you kno! your supposed to close the door and walk away, as long as there not doing anything that can harm themselves. hehehe I know in my schooling we were taught all this. just curious? weren't you?

i think it was just bad luck you wandered in on that. well, I don't know waht the medical training is for dealing with this sort of thing, just leave them alone maybe? I would certainly be paws off on that one. let them get on with it *smile*

I know this is going to sound unfashionably stuffy, moralistic, puritanical, judgmental, whatever. Unless these people are severely brain-damaged and demented to the point where they cannot be expected to take any responsibility at all for their behavior, I would refuse to interact with them until they were ready to treat me with some respect and behave like halfway decent human beings, and I would focus my efforts on other patients who might benefit from my help. Dare to judge. Oh, I respect everyone's right to his/her own lifestyle, as long as I have a right to trash it.

I'm not sure what I would have done in that situation. Gives the phrase "a hard day at work" a new meaning.

But, I think a sense of humor would help, and it sounds like you are on your way to develop a good one.

In medicine, it's best to expect the unexpected.

If that means what I think it does, then I guess you really can't tell these people you're not going to take any shit from them, can you?
